Lesson 3: Safe Lifting Technique

When lifting babies and young children, always assess the situation first. Ensure your back is straight, feet shoulder-width apart, and you are close to the child before lifting. Bend at the knees — never the waist. Keep the child close to your body and use smooth, controlled movements. Avoid twisting while holding a child. Always communicate with the child before and during the lift to build trust and reduce unexpected movement.
